Sunday Special: Music at the Priory #allswell

We are pleased to welcome Melanie Mehta and Peter Adcock on Sunday, 31st October, for some wonderful music in the Great Hall! They present Elizabethan songs – perfect for this setting! Experience our building filled with music while you explore its history…

Melanie Mehta has sung in large and small choirs/ensembles with tours in the UK and abroad.  Her solo Opera experience includes Adele (Die Fledermaus), Mother (Hansel & Gretel) and Witch (Macbeth) and has covered roles for Staircase Opera in Devon.  Her solo oratorio experience includes Vivaldi Gloria, Haydn Nelson Mass, and the Requiems of Brahms, Mozart and Verdi.  Planned concerts include two lunchtime concerts of duets at Glenorchy Church in Exmouth, a lunchtime concert at Wesley Chapel in London and a concert of Rhine related music in Bromley, Kent.

Do come and join us to soak up the history of Exeter’s oldest building and this quiet corner of the city.

Founded by William the Conqueror in 1087, St Nicholas Priory was home to Benedictine monks for over 400 years and is the oldest building in Exeter. In 1536, like other monasteries, it was closed and the remains became the home of wealthy Tudor merchants.
